Today, to mark Remembrance Day, we created some artwork linked to the poppy symbol. We did a 2 minutes silence at 11am and remembered those who died in the many wars of the past. In science we have been learning about different types of rock. We used a template on Purple Mash to try to explain the 3 main types: sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic. Today we learned about the Hindu Festival of Diwali. We created some rangoli patterns with rotational symmetry and used them as candle mats to remind us that Diwali is the 'Festival of Lights!'
In music this half term, we have been learning the reggae song, 'Three Little Birds' by Bob Marley. We have learned to play the glockenspiel along with the instrumental part of the song and have tried to compose and improvise our own music!
In computing this half term we have been learning how to send emails using 2Email on Purple Mash. We have also been thinking about staying safe when using email - ask us the rules for using email safely!
After the success of our Legohenge challenge, we really put our listening and cutting skills to the test this week to complete the paper model of Stonehenge! In theme this week, we have been learning about the importance of Stonehenge as a prehistoric monument. We then put our knowledge of how the henge is set out to the test by completing the group 'Legohenge' challenge! We had great fun but were also able to explain each part of our model, using accurate historic vocabulary! In art, we have attempted to use sketching techniques to draw a sabre tooth tiger after we received a drawing from Fine Artist, Sophie! More pictures to follow! |
